Contact Me

My students and their families are very important to me. Please feel free to schedule a time before or after school to discuss any questions or concerns you may have, or just to say "hello".
You may also email me at m.puritis@wilmingtonacademy.org. I will respond to emails as quickly as possible.
With that being said, my family is also very important to me, so to respect my time with them, any email sent after 4 p.m. will not receive a response until the next day. Students, if you have a question after that time, you should look through Jupiter and my website to see if you can find the answer. Also, you can email classmates. Be sure to use your resources.

How to best handle questions and/or concerns:

Students, since you are in the classroom with me so much, you should work to feel comfortable in asking for help and advocating for your needs. Therefore, you are encouraged to ask questions in person during class and guided study to ensure that you are prepared to complete homework, studying, or projects. The sooner you ask a question, the better prepared you will be, especially when keeping due dates in mind. Each middle school teacher will be requesting that you follow this communication protocol in order to maintain clear and efficient communication that will put students on the path to success in regards to their academics and ability to self-advocate.

Step 1: Students directly ask me clarifying questions about any instructions, assignments, grades, assessments, policies, etc. This can be in person or via email, but it should be done in a timely manner in regards to any scheduled due dates. It also should be AFTER students have consulted any and all resources already provided by me that may answer their question.

Step 2: If questions or concerns remain, students should request a conference with me. This should be initiated by students, and they should email me to set up a time that is convenient (ideally during Guided Study). The email should also indicate the area of concern.

Step 3: If questions or concerns remain, students should request a conference with Mr. Fichetti or Mrs. Goodwin and me. This should be initiated by the student, and they should email both Mr. Fichetti or Mrs. Goodwin and me to set up a mutually convenient time (ideally during Guided Study). The email should also indicate the area of concern.
Step 4: If questions or concerns remain, parents should request a conference with me. The meeting will begin with parents and me discussing areas of concerns and solutions. Then, we will ask the student to participate in the conference.

Step 5: If questions, concerns, or solutions need to be readdressed, parents should request a conference with Mrs. Upton and me. Similar format as discussed in Step 4.
